Your Location for AdventureThirty years ago this mountaintop belonged to an old hermit by the name of Slim Slocum who lived in an old log cabin. We have worked with the land over the years and built a house, barn, and a garden with fruit trees. Most of the land we kept as timber and selectively logged it, but we have also raised sheep, horses…you name it. The result is an amazingly rich and natural site, furnishing almost all we need. We have a Bed & Breakfast [link], have a conditional use permit for a wellness or retreat center, and many ideas. But we are getting older…………….. LocationThe Spokane International Airport is 45 minutes away. HomesteadThe deed for our original 80 acres is dated 1903 and is from the railroad. There has been no subdivision, only addition. We now own 140 acres that stretches from ridge in the south to a ridge in the north. To the east is a view of the Prairie and distant mountains. To the west is another ridge, owned by Inland Empire Paper Co. A small mountain to the SE protects us from noise and eyes. It is truly secluded. There are innumerable springs on the property which makes it a natural habitat for wildlife. Most of the land is timberland (cedar, conifers, alder) and has been selectively logged. Consequently the property tax is low and we are positioned to sell carbon credits. The home is 28 years old and well kept up, designed for comfort, and built to last. The siding is cedar. The walls have 6” insulation. Floors are slate, wood, and some carpet. Woodwork and stairs and cabinets are oak. The house is 2 floors with a full cellar with 2 root cellars, one colder than the other, a wood furnace and heat storage. There are 5 bedrooms upstairs and a large deck along the south and east side. The master bedroom has small roofed private deck and a 2-seat jetted hot tub. The main floor is relatively open, takes advantage of the wonderful view and is custom built for tall people. A wood heating system with heat storage takes advantage of the wood cleaned off the property. There is a backup electric forced air system. An ample well supplies the house, garden and lawn. The roof is metal. The TV comes via satellite; the internet connection is a DSL line with100 mp at the site.
